World Series Bound!

It was a good weekend to be an Aggie as the Lady Ags advanced to Women's College World Series and the men defeated Baylor for their first ever Big 12 tourney championship!  It all started Friday when the Lady Ags behind a great pitching performance and some timely hitting including a home run by Megan Gibson to go on to win 2-0.  It looked like they were going to wrap up the series with a win in the second game but the Lady Gators wouldn't go away and tied the game late.  Then in the bottom of the seventh they hit a walk off home run over the left field fence to force a third game.  The Lady Ags didn't let that get them down and came back to win the third and final game 2-0 sending them to the Women's College World Series for the first time since 1988.  They will face off against the Tennesse Volunteers who defeated Hawaii in the Knoxville Super Regional.  Let's hope that there is a little different turnout than when the we faced the Volunteers in the Cotton Bowl.  Good Luck Lady Aggies.

We are the Champions!

The Aggie Baseball team had a week to forget last week.  First they were swept by the Longhorns in the regular season finale and then they opened the Big 12 tournament with an awful performance against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  But they decided to turn things around and Head Coach Rob Childress shook the lineup up.  The result was a win against the horns to snap an 8 game losing streak that was highlighted by a Craig Stinson grand slam.  Then Saturday morning the Aggies did their part to reach the tournament finals by beating the KSU Wildcats 7-2.  Then they just had to wait and see if the Longhorns could beat the Cornhuskers to take the backdoor to the championships.  The Horns did as expected and put away Nebraska and in the nightcap Baylor beat the Oklahoma Sooners setting up a Brazos River battle for the championship.  The Aggies took control of the game early and never looked back winning 14-6 in a game where every Aggie seemed to be getting on base with solid line drives and grounders through the holes.  Scott Migl and Gary Campfield did the job allowing the rest of the staff get  much needed rest going into the regional round where the Ags learned they will be hosting a regional round.  They will know the actuall brackets tomorrow.  So good luck to Coach Childress and the rest of the Ags as they get ready for NCAA tournament time.
