Say It Ain't So Joe

It all started at about 3:00 pm when I saw this post, "Anyone hearing anything about JJ possibly leaving early? " on a members only aggie forum. It was no big deal there have been rumors or questions if he'd head to the NBA all year long and nothing had happened yet. Then about an hour later Chip Howard on KZNE 1150 nonchalantly says "Joseph Jones has declared for the NBA draft but will not hire an agent." And that was all that he said. This made me a little more nervous because weird things have happened this season. And then I got the email update for the
Battalion about Jones declaring. At first I was confused and kind of mad that the emotional leader and most experienced big man we have was considering leaving. But then I composed myself and thought things out.
First things first, he's not
gone he's just testing the waters. And who could blame him. He's on course to graduate soon and that is the most important thing to his mom which means it's the most important thing to Joe. Big men are a commodity in the NBA and if he can impress scouts with his workout and hit a big payday who could blame him for going? If it were to happen then college would've done what it's supposed to do for each and every one of us that go to college... Go to school, work hard, make friends, have fun, and find a great job and provide for your family. No one else would be expected to finish school and then just hang around for another year to make it a better time for everyone else. So I've decided as much as I would love for Joe to stay I'm not going to be mad if he does leave because that'll mean it's just another successful story of another Aggie going out and making something out of himself. So good luck to you Joe and if you decide you need to come back and punish the Big 12 for another year and teach DeAndre a thing or two that'll be cool too.
